Parents support their children in various ways, such as helping with homework or teaching them life lessons. Teaching life lessons is often more useful and important than helping a child do homework directly. Although it might not be easily seen at first, life lessons can stick with kids for a lifetime; hence, they are called life lessons and can affect them for a long period. Meanwhile, if parents just help their children with a math problem, they’ll probably use it for the next week or a month at most.

Life lessons imparted by parents are crucial as they often determine how others perceive a person. For instance, if a person has a habit of lying, it can erode trust and social connections. However, had they been taught a life lesson about honesty, they would likely have made different choices. This underscores the significant role parents play in shaping their children's character.

Helping children is quite skill-demanding, and the parents must be attentive. Otherwise, help might go to the opposite side. Some parents like to compare their kids to other children. Unfortunately, in most cases, it doesn’t work positively. Even if kids don’t do something well, the last thing they want to hear is someone doing better than them. It tends to create anger or frustration, sometimes both, although the original goal of parents is to use the great example to inspire the kids. Putting the comparison aside, just telling how to do things well and introducing the successful experiences directly may have a better effect.

Parents play a pivotal role in the development of children into adults. It is crucial for them to engage in reflective practice, evaluate their methods, and make necessary adjustments. This will ensure that they find the most effective approach for their children to achieve the most productive results.
