If you don’t like same sex marriages don’t get one. It’s as simple as that. Gay marriages are a huge cause of debate. Being a debate it has both pros and cons. I’m here to talk about the pros. Gay marriage should be legalized because it is a human right, homosexuality is natural, and love is love no matter the gender.
Same sex marriage should be legalized because it is a human right. Marriage is thought of as only between one man and one woman. When marriage is really about love between two people, sharing, and compromise. Also, making same sex marriages illegal is a form of discrimination. The United States is all about freedom and equal rights. So it is contradicting for same sex marriages to be illegal, it would be a minority discrimination. Lastly, there would be marriage benefits, such as joint ownership and medical decisions regarding a couple.
Gay marriages should be legalized because it does not negatively affect society in any big way. If gay marriages were legal, it would make it much easier for gay couples to adopt kids. Since it would be easier to adopt, adoption rates would increase and less kids would be in orphanages or foster homes. Also, it doesn’t affect children the way some might think. In longitudinal study published by Pediatrics children with lesbian parents have been found to have a higher social and academic competence level and children with gay parents are just as well adjusted as any other kid.
Lastly, gay marriages should be legalized because love is love no matter the gender. Love is one of the strongest emotions. You can’t exactly choose who you fall in love with. As many people say, love has no gender. A marriage is between two people and it isn’t anyone else business. The way I think of it is, telling someone that they can’t marry the person they fell in love with because they are the same gender, is kind of similar to arranged marriages in some small aspects.
Homosexuality is natural. It is found in 1,500 other animal species such as dolphins and chimpanzees. So, it’s not some huge unnatural occurrence. Having same sex marriages be legalized wouldn’t hurt society in a major way, it’s a human right to marry whomever you want, and love has no gender.
