Sam the Badley (Not Sam Badley)

After living throughout the horrors of the rotten and grotesque place that shall not be name (i.e. a.k.a Middle School), Sam the Bold (an nickname that he has vested upon himself) is dashing, and confident (not vain). He hopes his expectations would a line with reality.

As the enters the new building, he felt that high school is his magnum opus, his grand, specular event (boy he was wrong). High school is not what was glorified in movies with teachers not assigning homework but giving them advice, spontaneous singing, and teens overcoming their challenges (or that one guy asking that girl in love as it was depicted in Pretty in Pink). The only things that was accurate were mean girls that talked sh—t that spread rumors (and not m.y.u.b.), old teachers past retirement still teaching, over-the-top jocks, seniors 100% DONE WITH SCHOOL, and the popular wannabees. High school was a mere tragedy with people that were “friends” with him showed their true colors. The high school he was going was dilapidated with rusty roofs, and was in construction.

He starts the day with Honors Spanish III, his favorite subject (Fact: he is the only freshman there). The Spanish teacher is American and teachers Spanish with an American twist. After comes Period B, the class was Honors US History, the class hated by all and loved by few. He and the most of the students there find the class useless and stating that learning about dead presidents is not useful in life. Next class, Honors English II with Ms. Pippinpaddleopisuoplis, or simply Ms.Pippins. She is young, unlike most of the teachers he had, and she has a sunny and warm personality similar to a mother. In class, Sam feels sympathy for her as she no desire to yell and the class, althrough not all of them, are rude.

He had 3rd lunch, the most hated and despised with nearly all the food non-existent. There in line, he falls for a senior named Viola. She is quick-witted, intelligent, and the prettiest of all. But unbeknownst to him, she was a senior. (In the laws of high school, seniors and freshmen don’t date or even mingle-IN EYES OF MOST PEOPLE IT’S WRONG). As he came up to her, she walked away. Before, he told himself not to fall in love, for love to him is a distraction to his goals to enter an Ivy League school, but he’s in self-denial: would he follow his heart or his mind? (Oh the sorrows of young Werther, young and confused) He has no friends, but in every class he tells his classmate, whom they have no interest, every feeling he has towards her.    He thinks and thinks, his mind clouded  with feelings towards her. He is as an image of an outsider, with the rest of the figures in the picture floggy. As he crossed the hallway, there was Viola going to her AP Biology class. He enters the class without notice, but eventually got yelled at by Mr.Crips. He had to touch her. His chance came when she dropped her Michael Kors bag on the floor, ceremoniously he  picked it up and approach to her. Naturally, she said thanks in gratitude. Her graceful and smoothing voice pieced to his heart, and gave him a feeling of warmth. (TO VIOLA, AND EVERYBODY READING THIS, SAM IS A WERIDDO). At home, like every single or bored person, he facebook-stalked her and looked at her pictures on Instagram and Scapchat. It went on for hours (but around 11, he realized he had a quiz in AP Environment Science and Honors Geometry, which he didn’t sleep; NOTE:  He can’t have an B-, to him that’s an F).

Next day was a Halloween dress-down day, a day that liberated Catholic-school students from the terrible uniform. Viola was dressed in a Victoria Secret costume (but was sent home by her homeroom teacher to change). At lunch while he was carrying his food, he looked for Viola, but he fell in the trash (similar to a scene where Cathy fell in the trash in the film Mean Girls). Everyone in the lunchroom recorded it, and was on their Scapchat story for months. Then comes Monday, the day both students/teachers wonder why it exists, people were not enthusiastic but not Sam. He planned to have a full conversation with her. He went up to her slowly, he said hi, she said hi back. They talked about their future. Viola wanted to become a doctor with a Ph.D in Medicine and while Sam not figuring out what he wanted to do, told her he wants to become a professor with a Ph.D in Quantum Mechanics or in Philosophy.  He felt very content and filled with joy.

All week, they talked and she invited him to a seniors-only party. But to Sam and most freshman, an invitation to a seniors party is very special  not, the most important in his life. He can’t not mess up. He want to her house, dressed in his finest. The party was wild. Then while Alicia Key’s song came up, tensions boiled and out of no where he kissed Viola. Viola so shocked yelled at Sam to leave. Sam was sad; Viola only viewed Sam as a friend. All week, he did not say a word to Viola. With all his might, he tried to ask her forgiveness. She forgave him. Although she doesn’t acknowledged him as her lover, they were great friends. She was accepted to Yale. As she packed for college, he felt proud but was sad that she’s leaving. Before she felt, she kissed him on the cheek. There he sobbed like an infant, but her smoothing voice told him to that isn’t the end of the world and she’ll meet him again.

This is a satricial depiction of a freshman living in a world dominated by high school angst.
