Enders Game Movie Review

Enders Game is based on the book written by Orson Scott Card. The movie was directed by Gavin Hood and stares Asa Butterfield as Ender Wiggin. The movie is touching all through but the audience was most touched at the end. It takes place in the year 2154. It is about a kid that is the third child in the Wiggin family after his older brother Peter and his older sister Valentine. In the future there was an invasion of an alien raise that they call “buggers”. The invasion was a battle that took many lives until Mazer Rackham a pilot in the 1st invasion flew into the mother ship of the buggers. When he went into the mother ship every other ship just stopped and started falling out of the sky. After that battle the government started putting monitors in children’s necks so they can observe children to see if they have what it takes to be the next leaders in the invasion.

Ender Wiggins, a third in his family comes home to see two government officials, Colonel Graff and Major Andersen, in his house telling him he has to be part of battle school. In battle school he learns to become a leader for the second invasion. He wasn’t so good at it at first then he got the hang of it and he learns strategies and fighting skills. In battle school he meats many people that don’t like him at first but when they see what he can do they bring him in and they are all friends. As Ender achieves the best in his class he gets upgraded to the undefeated salamander army. In the salamander army he is bullied so he shows them what he can do. When he does show them what he can do he single handedly beats one of the top armies. Instead of them being happy they still don’t like him. When the government saw him single handedly defeat the army he gets upgraded to command his own army.

His army, the dragon army, has a reputation of no wins, until Ender leads them. When Ender is a leader of his own army he teaches them new formations and strategies. His teaching leads the army to one of the top armies in the school. The top army is the salamander army. When they battle they try a formation that they learned our tested. It all pays off because the new formation helps them defeat the salamander army.

After the battle the leader of the salamander army, Bonzo a cold-hearted commander, Bullies him in the shower. As they are fighting Ender kicks him and Bonzo slips and hits his head on the floor. As Bonzo is being fixed up Ender couldn’t help but feel bad. He feels just like his older brother Peter. Peter bullied Ender back home and almost killed him and only his sister Valentine can comfort him. So Ender says to commander Graff that if he doesn’t see Valentine then he is going to resign from battle school. Colonel Graff agreed and they met each other and Ender told Valentine about him quieting the school. Even though Valentine really missed Ender she told him that he should stay and train.

Back at the battle school the dragon army didn’t have a commander so they didn’t have battles they just learned new tactics in school. When Ender came back they told him that in a few days the final test was happening. The final exam tests Ender on everything he learned in the school.

In my opinion I think the book and the movie is the same because in the book it has more characters and they say what they’re thinking. In the movie you can visually see what it looks like. Also in the book it had a better story but overall I think that they are both the really good. I recommend that you read the book before you watch the movie.
