Sex - (v) sexual intercourse between both a female and a male. Now that's the dictionary.com definition of the word sex, but is that what you really hear today? Common phrases such as "to bone" or to "pop the cherry" are the much more "streetwise" definition amongst teens nowadays . But the question to really ask is: Do they really know what they're talking about? Sex is everywhere, publicly advertised and provoked in things we see everyday such as advertisments, movies and the music entertainment. And why is sex so loosely published? Simple. Sex is seen as cool, "in style" and a proof of maturity; Sex sells.Teenagers take this in a literal sense and and find that sex is more of a need rather than as a pleasurable moment between you and a loved one. On the other hand, though sex maybe extremely enjoyable, there comes possible consquences that may come from your "first time" being unsafe. As seen in the popular shows, MTV's 16 and pregnant and The Secret Life of the American Teenagers, sex can lead to teen pregancy if protection not taken seriously. The U.S. had the highest teen pregnancy rates in the industrialized world. In addition. according to The Center of Diease Control, one out of three girls will become preganant before they're 20. The road of motherhood is a rough one of learning and reality that exploits teenage mothers to welfare, bills, taxes, etc; All the stuff they're parents are used to! Also, education would most likely be thrown out the window along with the pregnancy. According to the Center for Diease Control, 80% of teen mothers drop out of highschool before graduation. The bottom line is: A kid can't raise a kid.

On the other hand, sex is something thats not in the control of parents or schools, but in the hands of the teenagers having sex. That doesn't mean that parents should standby and wait for the pregancy to happen. The best (and only real) advice parents can give to their teenagers is: Be Safe. Also, try to tell their children that the adults can't always make decisions for their teens and that there are moments in their lives when they would have to make their own decisions, and the possible consquences. Parents, try to talk to your kids and tell them that even if they do have sex, at least be safe about it and make them aware of all the outcomes from this important decisions.hy

I completely agree. And half the time, "safe sex" isn't safe. Lots of people get pregnant or stds from "safe sex".

I think that it's just better not to have sex outside of marriage than have "safe sex."  But that's my opinion.
