School uniforms are a big subject in the press. Uniforms are needed; children are bullied everyday because of their outfits. If we get uniforms some of the bullying could stop.

Uniforms should be used in all schools. Uniforms are a benefit, because if children of the student are wearing uniforms then the bullying rate goes down. Since some schools have switched to school uniforms 76% of school crime has dropped. Attendance has also been recorded at an all time high.

Uniforms are a great way to make children quit making fun of each other’s wardrobe. Nobody should really make fun of people if their wearing the exact same thing. With that uniforms are a great idea. The safer clothing choice would be, uniforms. Nobody would get beat up for the clothes they wear.

There are also disadvantages to wearing uniforms though. Uniforms don’t let people be creative about themselves. I express myself through my hair, and my clothes; even if we had to wear uniforms I would be okay with it, even though I can’t express myself thoroughly.

People could also get into trouble if they don’t wear their uniforms to school, so that could cause some conflict. The other conflicts with uniforms are, messing with it, like ruining the purpose. Or not wearing it at all, just wearing regular “play” clothes.

I have been on both sides of the making-fun of, I myself have made fun of somebody for their clothing choice, and I haven’t heard it but I’m sure people have made fun of the way I dress before.

Uniforms should be in all schools. Dr. Hifler says, some schools should have uniforms depending on the inviduality body.

I have always worn uniform to school and I prefer it greatly to not wearing uniform. Uniform is comfortable, cheap, cuts down on bullying and it takes way less time to get ready in the morning. However, when schools take it to the extreme, it makes students resentful of the rules and the staff that enforce them. At my school girls have to kneel on the floor to check that their skirts are long enough, you can't wear nailpolish or fake nails, you have to wear opaque tights, no jewellerry is allowed, no shaven heads or unnatural hair colours, no boots or canvas shoes, no head bands/flowers/bows or basically anything that a normal person would wear. We don't have any individuality and my uniform is quite scruffy. The staff also spend a LOT of time checking uniform and the students spend a lot of time being punished for incorrect uniform. We would all be much happier if they were more relaxed! So bascially, uniform is good, but not when it's really really harsh.

During my school life, there has not been a single time when I have not been required to wear a uniform at school.

I agree that uniforms greatly reduce the ammount of bullying that happens at school, whenever we have a 'non-school uniform day' I notice many people unkindly commenting on the way that another person is dressed.

My only issue with school uniform is the fact that I can't express myself easily, we are not even allowed to wear bracelets and necklaces (I do anyway though :p).

Of course, you can express yourself in other ways though. What after-school clubs and societies you go to, how you behave in lessons and how you treat other people shows what kind of person you are just as much as your apperance does.
