Letter to the New York Times
The editor of
New York Times,
In my social studies class, we have been doing a project on weather we should give the native americans land or money. I think that more americans should know about the subject before making their decision. The Trail of Tears was a series of forced relocations of Indian nations in the United States following the Indian Removal Act of 1830. Ever since this time, the native americans have been suffering. They were forced from their homes and crops in search of a place to start over. This had an impact on families, their religion, and wealth. Their reservations are some of the most poverty stricken areas in the United States. This is why we need to give the native americans land.
