Response to "Take a Joke, Sweetheart"
I believe that sexism plays a large role in not only my school, but most others. As the author spoke of her encounter, she accurately depicted many of the feelings that are associated with bullying like that. Though many don't speak out on it, gender jokes and discrimination wreak havoc on self-esteem. I have witnessed many sexist remarks that have gone too far like "get back in the kitchen," and I don't understand why some people feel the need to degrade others like that.
