Battle for the cup
Fifa World Cup 2014 is one of the most waited sport competitions in the world. This year, the cup is being held in Brazil in twelve different stadiums. Thirty two teams from different countries are qualified for this massive worldwide sport’s championship. Since, there will be only one champion and all the teams are good in a way, it’s very hard to choose one champion among them. Considering all the advantages and qualities, Germany is going to win the Fifa World Cup, because the team has both young and skilled players who were in the top of their game on the league matches of 2012 and 2013. And additionally, the other competitor’s performances are declining.
Among the qualified countries, there are seven teams who have a strong chance of winning. Those countries are Brazil, Spain, Argentina, Uruguay, Portugal, France and Germany. Looking at the history of the Fifa World Cup, Brazil won five Championship cups more than any other country. Brazil also have a long list of legends who have broken the records and some have set records which seemed to be unbreakable until now. Despite the historical records, this year’s Brazil team also has home field advantage. But, looking at the current squad of Brazil, it’s conspicuous that they do not have a good chance of winning. Brazil just have three talented players: Neymar, Oscar and Hulk. This means Brazil does not have what is takes to win.
Spain does not have as many Fifa World Cup wins as Brazil, nevertheless they are the winners of previous Fifa World Cup. Furthermore, they are also the winners of Euro Cup 1964, 2010 and 2012. Another advantage for Spain is having a long list of world class athletes and some of outstanding players. David Silvia, David Villa, Andrés Iniesta, Fernando Torres and Iker casillas, these are the spirit of Spain. Even with all of these advantages, Spain seems to be weak this year. They lost a friendly match against South Africa which is currently a weak team and didn’t even get qualified for the cup. Considering other Fifa 2014 qualification matches, Spain is not very professional and they have a very low chance of winning.
Argentina, winner of the Fifa World Cup 1978 and 1986, are a very strong teams, but certainly not the best. Argentina’s forwards are all outstanding world class players such as Lionel Messi, Ángel di María, Sergio Agüero and Carlos Tevez. Having this great forwards is a privilege for Argentina, but a good team also needs some good midfielders and defenses and these are the things that Argentina lacks. Looking at the qualification matches of Argentina, the chemistry of the team is not so good. Considering all of these facts and an injury of Lionel Messi, Argentina doesn’t have a good chance of winning.
Uruguay is also the winner of two Fifa World Cup’s: 1930 and 1950, but in recent years they appear to be a weak team. For this year’s World Cup, Luis Suarez is the only hope for Uruguay. There are some semi-professional and professional Uruguayan players, like Edinson Cavani, on the team but they are far behind from winning the World Cup.
Portugal is also a team, which is dependent on one player; Cristiano Ronaldo. All the other players on the team are good and respectable players but they do not have a good record in their respective league teams this year. Cristiano Ronaldo has scored all the goals to qualify Portugal to World Cup and he has been extraordinary this year, scoring more goal than any other player in whole world. The World Cup is not something that can be won by the goals of just a person. Even the Netherlands, the team with three world class players, have lost to spain in Fifa 2010 match because of the lack of a good squad. There is a high chance of the same thing being repeated with Portugal.
France, winner of the World Cup 1998 and the runner-up of World Cup 2006. France is quite an impressive team with young talents. They have world class players: Karim Benzema, Paul Pogba and Franck Ribéry. These three players have recently contributed a lot for their national team to qualify for Fifa. France clearly doesn’t have the squad required to win the cup because the defense and offense of France is poor. Looking at the recent performances of the team, France is very far away from winning the cup.
Germany, three times World Cup champions, have a great history in soccer. The team has the best squad currently. Germany has both young and experienced elder players and have equal rated players in all defense, midfield and offense, making a perfect chemistry. They have also been called the most dangerous team recently because they have very strong midfielders. Midfielders are the core of teams, the pace of the team depends on them. Germany has incredible midfielders such as Mesut Ozil, Sami Khedira, Lukas Podolski and Bastian Schweinsteiger. Germany also have great attacking players such as Thomas Muller, Mario Gotze, Miroslav Klose, Mario Gómez and Marco Reus. So far, they have been lethal this season for other teams and Germany’s Bundesliga has become one of the best upcoming Leagues. Considering all of the recent performances of the team and individuals this year and the squad, Germany has a very positive chance of winning the Fifa World Cup 2014.
