Ode to Life
What is the eternal will that drives us?
To thee, life, I compose an ode to thee.
No words could express why thou are so joyous.
Thou art a mystery that puzzles all man.
‘Twas thy light that hath brought me much bliss.
‘Twas thy light that guides all my fellow man.
I wish I could give thee a joy filled kiss.
For thee, who is life, gives a helping hand.
Ye who will never dread the hand of Death,
Thou, in fact, possess the power to best him!
‘Tis thee that I thank for every sweet breath,
‘Tis thee that holds my being on a whim.
As my ode begins to come to a close.
I must say that life is a bittersweet rose.
