Escape
Come – let me take you to the fields
Of rippling stalks in the sunlight
Our lives are a canvas
Of monochrome grays,
So let us be together
To forget it.
Through the whispering forest we’ll glide,
Barefoot without fear
For the earth’s pulse
Thrums against our time-hardened heels
And on this day of dancing rays,
What could bring us harm?
We’ll bend to every passing fancy,
Weave daisy haloes
Each to crown the other
And at the end of the day
With the blazing sky beating fierce accompaniment,
Around and under,
Like an endless daisy chain,
We’ll dance
A tribute to the coming dusk.
