Stiff, sleeping muscles,
Ligaments,
And bones,
Anticipate the big race.
Wonder how they can compete,
In such an un-motivated condition.
In unison they begin to bend,
And lengthen,
And cry out in pain,
From the expected stretching,
A ritual before all big races.
They pull,
And crack,
Split,
And burn,
Like flimsy gym rope,
They barely support the chubby student below.
They loosen,
Relieved,
Free from the unnecessary stress,
They sprint in unison,
To cross the line.
