Trees & Cats
There is a yellow cat
 high up in my tree
 It refuses to come down
 from its calm little seat
I stand there for a moment or two
wonder how he got up there
His fluffy tail wiping side to side

 with a piercing undisturbed stare
 People star to come up

crowding around the street to see
The thoughts that could flash through their minds

about the cat in the tree
But I don’t see the feline

not in the same way they do
When I see the furry little kitty

all I can see is me
 The want to be alone

 high up in a tree
 Where no one can touch

so no one can get me
 But the purring inside

 betrays by every whim
Because I want someone to try

and get me from the tree
