Dark Nothing
I ran through the meadow. The bench had old wooden arches, the paint chipping at the highest of points. Bushes in rustic yellow sat along the edges of the meadow, the only colors in the dull fall setting. I ran and ran until the cover of nightfall was with me. And when i finally stopped and collapsed upon the river edge, the mist floated across my body. It's silvery fingers snaking across mine and it made me shiver. Thick evergreen trees sandwiched the liquid midnight river. A crunch of brittle leaves sounds behind me. When i opened my eyes, they're staring at darkness. The darkness of my life, of my mind, of my soul. I'm left alone in that darkness with nothing to hold onto.
