Left Alone
I stand in the middle of the street,
Looking down the road.
Hearing my heart thump in that melodic beat,
Carrying the heaviest load.
I stand there hearing the wind whispering,
I keep searching, searching for the one I long to see.
I cry as the rain comes down my face trickling,
I wonder why this all happens to me.
I wait, pausing to catch my breath.
I try to find the sun through the darkened clouds of rain.
I still search the road, down its length
I see nothing and no one for the cause of my pain.
I stay there waiting for my heart to be fed,
Only to notice that my love one is dead.
