This Spring
I am so afraid now-a-days
That you’ll find someone
Better
And leave me.
I’m sure that this,
Having been said a million
Times before
Has no effect on you--
But I still say it.
Because the sun is rising
And the light is defining
The deformities in my
Unbeautiful
Surface.
There is no darkness,
There are no scarves:
No more of my winter-y
Façade.
~…………~
This spring
The colors are amazing.
You can see all the beautiful things
Unraveling---
No longer hiding behind their
Woolen blankets.
I am so afraid to lose you…
I am so afraid.
Because this spring the
Flowers
Are coming up more beautiful
Than the last,
And I fear you’ll have no time
To look at the rock that I am.
I may have been the only beautiful
Thing
In winter,
But I was the only thing there…
Now you shall see all the wonderful things
As they bloom b’fore your eyes
This spring.
