I Am...
I Am…
I am swift as the river and strong as the gale.
I wonder about the origins of those cliché phrases
We toss about in our streams of conversation
Train of thought
Kick the bucket
Spinning the wheels
I hear the heartbeat of humanity and pray, let it carry on.
I want to be more outgoing, to e x p a n d my horizons.
I see a future growing brighter with each new sunrise.
For I am swift as the river and strong as the gale.
I pretend to be beyond adolescence
In fear of the day I leave my comfort zone behind.
I feel t o r n between what seems right and what is right.
I touch that sparkling pot of gold
At the end of the rainbow of opportunity.
I worry too much over silly, little scenarios
That hardly have an impact on the world.
I cry when the s t r e s s is too much to bear,
The weight becoming too great.
Yet I remain swift as the river and strong as the gale.
I understand why life is not always the fairest at times.
I say if life blows you over
Dust yourself off
Rise back to your feet
I dream of the day all of my hard work will
Finally receive the due credit it deserves.
I try not to be too judgmental of others
For I know I have my own faults as well.
I am swift as the river and strong as the gale.
