all those kids rushing around the fountain,
dreaming up their dreams the size of mountains,
washing away their fears with water,
booming and beating with it's sound.

when did we forget it?

it was when we became corporate;
had to wiggle our way up to the ladder,
trying to impress the big man who just kept
getting fatter,
cause he never left
his brick building,
all shined up in his suit that never got spit up on,
cause he never had time for his baby,
makin' his wife stand over the stove, cooking and
smashin' the clock overhanging the mantle, cause
she kept
waitin' til the big man got home.
but she should have known;
he let it all go.

I''ll bet you twenty bucks,
it when we started to see our minds erupt,
and we saw that letters could predict our future,
we let teachers and miniscule report cards
dictate our destinial lectures.


i'll bet you thirty bucks,
it's when we all pressed the enter button
to become members of this
societal, internet eruption,
decided to post our personal lives and thoughts
onto this fake paper book,
said we were in a relationship,
hell, the whole world should know,
when we go on dates, party with friends,
when we are home.

cause we got scared,
we had no idea where to go from fear;
running around in circles,
trying to run back into the ocean.

and we smacked so hard,
into the concrete,
tripping over our own feet,
letting society rush us to the brink,
it's a sick, sick thing
when we forget about who we're suppossed to be,
and we stop the rhythm that let us breathe.
that let us, just be.

crack open the window,
my god, there's so much to discover,
resound the best days,
let the car roll til it runs out of gas,
who gives a damn if it doesn't all go your way,
just let it. be.
