In English my name means innocence and purity, stemming from the latin word for lily flower, “lilium”. Reminiscent of a light comforting green. As smooth as the holy spirit's wings.

My name comes from my great aunt in Arizona. She was a beautiful soul. Her words flourished through you as if you were inhaling them. Her wisdom was like no one elses. I didn’t know her for long, but for the time we had together she made herself memorable.

She would tell me my name is a gift of clarity and beauty. To never let anyone take advantage of that. I would say to her “Lily is just a name, it has no significance other than that,” but she would smile and say, “it’s not just a name, it is a special bond which brings you and I together.”

When I hear my name, I hear my childhood best friend attempting to pronounce it correctly when we were young. Struggling over every letter. It was my favorite thing to hear. So effortless. So pure. The simple slip up. pronouncing an L as if it’s a W. Will-wee.

Lily.  I do not see a light comforting green.I see bright red. I am a very complicated and complex person. It is difficult for me to show emotions and communicate how I feel. I often find myself getting trapped in my own thoughts. and at one point I just exploded.

Although I don't perfectly match the definition of my name, Maybe my name does fit me after all, just not in the exact way I think . Lily.
