The story begins with two kids like brothers
Backs on the wall next to each other
In and outta concerts, girls screech their names
Soon one gets lost in the money and fame
In a highschool band with a number one hit
Best of friends and they wouldn't trade this
But you know how these promises always end
Brother against brother, and friend against friend
This world is filled with corruption and hate
Not enough compassion to escape it's fate
And things haven't been the same since that day
When we both changed our lives and went our ways
So we just suck it all up and throw it away
And do our best not to forget our times yesterday

So, you go your way and I'll go mine
I guess it's best not to be side by side.
In the end we seperate, and find our own paths
I guess we were never really in the same class
Never united, not a thing to explain
I guess that's how things roll when we go our ways

The first guy I mention is probably the worst,
Thinking of only himself, no matter who he hurts
He became stuck in the anger, greed, and jealousy
His head filled with delusions, hypocrisy
Thinking he can make millions, billions, steppin' up in his shoes
Not thinkin or knowin about what he's going to lose
He slowly strayed away from his band
Things explode in his face, he's a sorry man
Ran back in rags, tail between his legs
I turn around and don't know what to say
Glare into his sad soul and brush away
Cutting my ties with him in anyway
And things haven't been the same since that day
When we both changed our lives and went our ways
So we just suck it all up and throw it away
And do our best not to forget our times yesterday

So, you go your way and I'll go mine
I guess it's best not to be side by side
In the end we seperate, and find our own paths
I guess we were never really in the same class
Never united, not a thing to explain
I guess that's how things roll when we go our way

Now I'm sittin' here staring out my window
Thinking about the brother that I used to know
Life goes by
Relationships die
I close my eyes
And say goodbye
My brain's in pain
I don't know what to say
My brother is dead now
And he's gone away
Left me with the engraving on his tombstone
"I'm sorry for everything that I have done to you"
I drop the roses, and glide away
This world is so hopeless, tomorrows the same day
And things haven't been the same since that day
When we both changed our lives and went our ways
So we just suck it all up and throw it away
And do our best not to forget our times

So, you go your way and I'll go mine
I guess it's best not to be side by side
In the end we seperate, and find our own paths
I guess we were never really in the same class
Never united, not a thing to explain
I guess that's how things roll when we go our way
