Tender Is The Night
Tender is the night
Blanketing the world
Tender is the wind
Playing with my lock curled
Tender is the sound
Of the happy crickets
Tender are the trees
Talking with the owlets
There's the moon and there's the star
Shining brightly like a burning hearth
But so small and dainty they are
How will they light half the earth?
There isn't any light in this Styx
Yet it seems that night is glowing
Maybe it's the eternal glow of Nyx
Maybe it's another secret of the Universe
There's music in the silence
Of this infinite stretch of nothingness
This is the sweetest solitude
Far from the depressing loneliness
Tender is the shining moon
Tender are the twinkling stars
Tender is the night bird's croon
Tender is the dark sky
Maybe that's why we fall asleep
In the dark and the quiet
Night's tender hands stroke our heads
And coax us into the fancy griot

This poem is about night which I wrote during a night journey when we were passing through a forest.
