What If You Knew?
If you really knew me would you judge me so harshly?
Or what if you knew her; what if it didn’t matter?
Or even if you knew him; would his story make a difference?
Just take it as an instance…
Would what you knew,
Make you better, make you nicer?
He’s lost a friend and her aunt just died,
But still you’re cruel.
Think it through.
What if you knew me?
Don’t be someone you don’t want to be.
Did you know,
I’m not afraid to be me?
I’m not afraid to be this person,
You see,
I have done things,
I’m most definitely not proud of,
But so have you.
Just remember…
What if you knew…?
In reality,
We’re all so alike,
Trying to be like each other,
And it’s the people that oppress.
It’s the people that depress.
They’re so immature,
They’re the factor; I’m sure.
But what if they knew…
If they knew what I felt,
If they knew what I’ve seen,
If they knew what I’ve done,
If they knew where I’ve been,
If they knew what I think,
If they knew what I feel,
If they knew what I thought,
Was less than ideal,
I know they’d be different.
I know they’d all change.
I swear if one of them,
Was to step out,
Was to go beyond their comfort zone,
Was to show they might have what resembles a heart,
This high school could change.
This high school WOULD change.
But they don’t.
And they won’t.
Why?
It’s because they’re afraid.
To be themselves!
Look at this world…
People doubt your heart,
Then tell you not to think with your mind.
Teach them a lesson,
No... Just forget them!
Too painfully honest?
Well, it’s just the beginning.
Listen to those words because they’re all true,
I am not afraid to be me; are you afraid to be you?
