A Chance
With a heavy heart, and tear stained cheeks
We find those around us completely lost
Frightened, scared
Blurry, almost running away from you
You can't see. You can't hear them.
Your senses fail. Your heart stops beating
The world stops turning. The world stops turning.
The light dims, and the water rises.
You don't struggle. You begin to drown.
Let the dark twisted water consume you.
Let it take over your eyes. Let them become pools of navy
The water is black. You are dark. Your world is dark, lifeless, dead.
You sink faster, and cringe at the pain, the pressure.
Then you see a hand. A hand of hope.
A hand to help. A hand to free you from this darkness.
You kick and scream to reach the hand.
But you fail.
You struggle to reach the hand.
But you fail.
Instead of trying once more,
you give up.
And as you sink to the bottom of the dark, you begin to wonder.
Do I still have a chance?
