They Will Not Let My Daughter Love
They watch with cruel and heartless eyes,
Hissing against the happiness They don’t say is right
That comes from what They say will be her demise.
The reasons for her tears are painful and wise.
She cannot understand why another girl can’t be her knight.
They watch with cruel and heartless eyes.
She talks on the phone without her disguise
And whispers “I love you” late at night
To what They say will be her demise.
They continue to push her to buy into Their lies,
Insisting she must kill her desires to end her plight.
They watch with cruel and heartless eyes.
And, from the pressure, her soul withers and dies.
For against all of Them, two girls alone can’t win the fight.
They watch with cruel and heartless eyes.
Even with her tortured pleas and cries,
They cannot see that Love is truly the light.
They watch with cruel and heartless eyes,
Unknown to Them, They are the ones who will be her demise.
