A War On Our Oceans
A war on our Oceans
At night the ships ready,
trawl nets like sharp teeth
destroying the seemingly endless expanses
Metal weights like plows dragging sediment along the ocean floor
Plants suffocated, fish populations steadily, slowly,
Dying
Nets violently ripping, toiling
A war on our ocean.
Ships like siege machines
Perpetually barreling
Towards the light of a new day, a new battle
The seafloor desecrated
An underwater holocaust before our our eyes
But the issue lost in the ever rising stack of problem sheets,
Put aside, ignored even
Human interjection killing our oceans
But in the cities and towns,
The rolling plains of Europe
A misty morning
Fog covered
The world unaware of the conflict raging under the surface
