Where is it?
Where is it?
I recall memories
Of ancient dissenters ,of thronging crowds
Of multiplicity of cultures and
The common man ,oh!so proud!
Alas!Tears spill from my eyes and
My heart begs to shout
Friends!I can't help but wonder
Where is it now?
Where are we off to ?
Where goes the wind?
Is it headed towards the nocturnal Delhi alleys?
Or is it lost in the sunlit Indian plain?
Our culture fades away
Like stars in the morning light
The sun has come up and
It scorches us day and night
Yet we suffer silently
Why do we suffer such a plight?
Why won't the Indian star shine
When it deserves to dazzle bright!
Yes ,I feel the loss,
I sense a fraction leave my soul,
Yet my being keeps changing ,
It's simply slipped out of control :
But do only I feel this way?
Do I feel this alone?
Why aren't any of us bothered by how we live ?
Tell me ,do you know where we go ?
Friends!I can't help but wonder
Where is it now ?
Where did our purpose go?
(We are not foes ,
All one body we ,
Preserve all that is ours,
Else forever ruined shall we be!)'

This poem is about the Indian culture gradually fading away due to the dominating influence of the American and Western culture.
Our history textbooks tell us about the vibrant and diverse Indian civilization. However after being colonised, this diversity and pride began to give way to inferiority and conflicts .The policy of divide and rule adopted by the British still corrupts our society today.India is a country which I believe is marked by hardwork and determination, however ,now the teens are more concerned about clubbing ,drinking and fitting in ,instead of working hard and searching for purpose. THus WE DO NOT know WHERE OUR PURPOSE HAS GONE and we have ultimately lost it .The Sun represents the dominating Western culture .Yet majority of the teens do not seem to be concerned about this and I feel alone in my attempt to resurrect Indian glory .Hence I feel a sense of loss. But I know we can once again become what we were,if we unite and stand strong .
