Counting Down the Seconds
The soft ticking echoes through you room,
All is quiet except for that ticking,
Tick-tock
Tick-tock
You want to get up to take out the batteries of the clock,
But under your blankets are so soft,
Why should you get out of bed,
Giving into that terrible sound?
Tick-tock
Tick-tock
Showing now sign of stopping,
The walls feeling like they’re closing in,
Like a bomb that’s about to go off,
It might be soothing but never for you,
You wait,
It still ticks.
It’s always there,
Every night,
Every day,
Waiting until you give in.
The ticking like a countdown,
As if it’s counting down the hours…
But counting down the hours for what?
What’s going to happen?
When will it stop?
You want it to stop.
Will it ever stop?
Please make it stop.
You don’t want time to slip away from you,
You like things just the way they are,
Everything’s perfect,
Nothing needs to change.
But then why don’t you make the ticking stop?
Why don’t you ever stop the clock from ticking?
