Sand Spur MAG
I felt like I was caught like a fish
On a line, as the undertow
Slowly tugged at my legs,
Pulling me toward the pier.
I remember the summers,
Running barefoot through the
Sand, feeling the burning sun
Bear down on me as I plunged
Under the current.
Seeking shade under tall palm
Trees, stepping on sand spurs. I look
Now for those memories as I looked for
Sharks' teeth in the gravel driveway.
In recent summers, I've only
Felt myself longing to return. My
August now is consumed with worry,
My June with regret.
