Over the Earth's Next Curve MAG

The last time I saw you -
At the crazy beach house
With the staring masks high on the walls
And all the hints of an imagined Africa
The waves piled so high
As we flew down on the shore
Boogie boards
The power threatened me
The grate of knees on shells
A tinge of scarlet streaming down white flesh
Now, you are leaving, and so am I
When haven't we been?
All our lives, my brother, we said that
When we had the chance, we would stop
And actually stay firm to one place
Now, Wales for you
All I know is that it rains there -
A lot
Me? Bolivia again
I'll never be free of it
It burrowed into mi sangre, my blood
But I think you understand
My God, what are we fleeing?
Our family spans three continents
Even for all of Mom's grasping hands
Desperate to pin us down
We pride ourselves on our independence
Don't-need-nobody-don't-touch-me
Don't-don't-don't-damn it
We can never unbend or the pain will kill us
So, we run
There is only so far you can go
Until you end up where you began
My brother and I
I think we secretly mourn that the earth is round
But we'll never tell
The next time I see you
My brother
You'll be even farther away
