Ebony Painting
I gaze out the car window as the wheels continuously turn
My mind is elsewhere
The painting in the cosmic sky mesmerizes me
The stars shimmer upon the artists' canvas
A certain magic and power lay over me
I cannot look away
The glimmer of the moon besides the burning rocks holds a unique aura
The artists' hands bless the night sky
A cloak of ebony has devoured the painting
I search the constellation for answers
I whisper goodnight to the man in the moon
I surrender to the beauty of nature
This is my America, my personal salvation in this ebony painting
As the wheels continuously turn
I still gaze out the car window
Mesmerized, I'm in a trance
