The Nightmare
All of your fears gathered in one horrifying image.
The dream you never wish to have.
The black birds circle above like a terrible storm;
the shadow of an unknown figure
peers through your window,
as you hide beneath your covers.
Trying to escape the terror outside.
But wait,
as you slowly wake,
you start to see the warm sun peek through the curtains.
The horrible bird sounds were just a robin in the grass,
and the figure you saw was just the shadow of a tree,
standing still in the crisp morning air.
What once was your worst nightmare,
turned into your favorite kind of morning.
