There are times when you just know
That they are here

Sometimes they give you a sign
But not always
Sometimes you just know

Like when the sun peeks through the clouds
You can feel them watching
Your every move
Every accomplishment
Every feeling
You are always connected

Although you cannot see them
They are always here
They are never gone
They have just been given a better chance
Another chance
At life

When you see them, they are only sleeping
But when they awake, only they can see you
They are the sun
The stars
The sky

They are the flowers
The fields
The oceans

They become the world
The everyday you live in
Everything you do
Everything you feel
They will feel too

It should not be known as loSing someone
It should be known as loVing someone
That is what keeps you connected
Because one day, you will wake up
And they will be there
And together, you will roam the fields and oceans
You will fly to the sun and the stars
You will smile to those still on Earth
And you will love them all the same

Until then, we need not to think of what we have lost
But what we have loved
And how we have loved
And whom we have loved
For it is then we will stay connected to those
Who are just one step ahead of us

So the next time you notice the sun peeking through the clouds
Or a butterfly waving its wings
Or the waves splashing on a shore
Remember whom you have loved
And smile back

I wrote this poem specifically for a friend the day of her father's funeral.

Love this. I've lost grandparents, and you made me feel better about it while reading this. I hope it's true! You write so well! Could you read some of my poems? I'd love your feedback!

Just another casualty.
It's sad but true.
And even dead I'm still ahead
of most of you.

I would have put "Another chance, A better chance" just to show that kind of progression... I really like this though.
