An arctic orchid
Has cubes of smooth, cold ice
At its roots,
Transparent and shimmering blocks –
A frozen flower in a fleeting fantasy,
An ethereal image intensified by
Something macabre
At the center of a
Single, slender spring green flower bud.
A sickly stench engulfs the silent room:
A warning of grave impending doom
