My Soul

my soul is filled with
graffiti, polluting my insides
with angst and crying out
for some attention.
my soul is a teenage poet,
scrawling down meaningless
phrases for the hope that
they’ll mean something.
my soul is a middle-aged
model, now smoking cheap
cigarettes and trying to
regain her former beauty.
and my soul is filled with
the happiness of living.
