Life Goes On
One minute
Your life is the best
Your friends joking
Your grades soaring
Your popularity couldn’t be better
Being the envy of the younger kids
Makes you the best in the school
Then
A tragedy strikes
A mouth slips up
A secret is out
Your secret!
They look at you
Like you’re some sort of monster
That no one knew
Your friends abandon you
Your grades plummet
Your popularity is down the toilet
Your life is at its worst
But your old friend
The one who you forgot
After you became popular
Was there to help
He was still your friend
Despite what has been said about you
What he heard
He told you
“Don’t worry man.
Life goes on”
You smile, his advice soaking in
No matter what the other people said
What they thought
What they did to you
None of that mattered
So!
Hold your head high
Choke away that sob
Dry up those tears
And think of your friend’s advice
“Life Goes On”
