Reflections of Windows
The winter’s wrath restrains me inside
A flurry of heartache and sorrow reaches my window
My window calls to me
Beckons me to open
And I must obey
Leaving this past through an open window, like a lone teen on the run
Makes me wonder
If it is I to escape my past
Or my past to escape me
Pausing, only for a moment
Deciding, secluding, refreshing
A scenery of despair
An opportunity to unlock once bolted doors without the key
And then my eyes lock
Like a laser, pointing to destiny
I see others looking out their window
Perhaps mistaking them for doors
They think an open window will suffice as an open door
Though the subtle difference is clear now
For an open window is a way out
An open door leads into a world of new beliefs and scenes
Our eyes meet finally
And we know to now close our windows
Let the cold stay outside
We’ll wait for a door
We’ll wait for spring
