Once Upon a Time
Writer's Block will be the death of me
 I swear, it'll come quick and silent
 Like a cancer of the creative soul
 I wish I could write a poem with this line:
 "Dewdrops--the tears of morning" in it
 But I don't know what the poem would be about
 And maybe "morning" should be "mourning"

 I wish I could find eloquent words
 To describe simple things:
 The sight of sunset;
 Daytime giving his sweet goodbye
 to all that he loves, loved, and never knew
 The smell of a flowerbud;
 The faint sweat from fighting through the dirt
 Reaching towards the sun
 The taste of raindrops;
 The brandy Nature drinks
 when she is feeling bittersweet
 The feeling of an sorrowful embrace;
 All emotions both hearts hold
 And wish they never held
 The invisible scent
 that isn't quite family and isn't quite friendship
 But the scent of -home-
 The scent of a place where you feel at home
 When you're not at home

 Yes, I wish I had the mind
 To write a poem for each of these wistful things
 Or a story
 A novel
 An epic
 And each would start with
 "Once upon a time"
 And never end
