Dear God
Dear God,
Could you please explain to me,
How the universe unfolds?
Could you fold it back up?
And tuck it away for another day?
There are some questions that I must ask of you.
What happens to love when hate is through?
Why do babies face death,
While old men struggle for breath?
Who is the brain to decide who is ugly and smart?
When those are obviously issues of the heart.
Sometimes I sit alone, wondering
As the cloud outside are thundering
“Where did all the goodness go?”
Could you please explain to me,
How the universe unfolds.
Would you fold it back up?
And tuck it away, just for today?
Love,
Rachel
