Come Home
All the things we ever wanted,
All the things we said we’d do,
 All the treasured dreams,
 And evil schemes,
 All on hold,
 Because of you

 Because you left,
You always said you’d never look back,
But now you’re having second thoughts
You thought you knew what you wanted,
 But now you’re not,
 So sure

 You called me,
 Last night,
 At eleven o’clock,
From a phone on the side of the road,
Said you wanted to come home

 You told me,
 How lonely it was,
 With no one to love,
And just a trunk full of old clothes,
 It’s never too late,
 To come home

 And the way you spoke,
 It sounded like,
You had tears in your eyes,
Just thinking ‘bout you out there,
In this big world all alone,
 It’s gonna make me cry

 And so I told you,
When you’re feeling like there’s no one left to hold,
And you think you’re all alone,
 First of all,
 Think about coming home,
 And then,
Look down at the ground that you’re laying on and,
 Just remember,
 I’m not so far off,
I’m standing on the same earth that you’ve been,
Sleeping on for the past few nights,
 And I’m,
 Thinking of you

I know you wanna come home but,
 Giving up,
 That’s not,
 A part of you,
 And you won’t,
No matter how much you want to

And thinkin’ bout you made me cry,
 I promised you,
I’d never fall for another guy,
I just want you to come home,
 Back to our little town,
Where you’re not so all alone,
Where you’ve got someone to hold

 But you said no,
You’re on the verge of something big,
 Of knowing who you are,
 This is something,
 That you need to do,
 For you,
 And so I called you

 And so I told you,
When you’re feeling like there’s no one left to hold,
And you think you’re all alone,
 First of all,
 Think about coming home,
 And then,
Take a deep breath of the fresh mountain air,
 Just remember,
 I’m not so far off,
I’m breathing the same air you’ve been,
Breathing for the last few weeks,
 And I’m,
 Thinking of you

And I don’t think you know,
 How much I,
 Miss you

 And when you,
 Finally,
 Make it,
 Home,
 I swear,
That I won’t ever let go

 But for your sake,
 Don’t give up,
 And don’t turn back,
You gotta find out who you are,
 It’s something,
 That you gotta do,
 For you

I only say this cuz I love you,
And you know I want the best,
 Don’t give me that look,
 Cuz in this relationship,
We don’t go by the books,
 If you’re happy,
 Then I’m happy,
 So why,
 Is nobody happy,
 Being alone

It’s cuz we need to hear each other’s voice,
So when I picked up the phone

 I told you,
When you’re feeling like there’s no one left to hold,
And you think you’re all alone,
 First of all,
 Think about coming home,
 And then,
Look up at the stars at night,
 Just remember,
 I’m not so far off,
I’m gazing up at the same stars,
 You’ve been,
 Sleeping under,
 And I’m,
 Thinking of you

 And I’m not sure,
 What I’m gonna do,
 If you don’t,
 Come home soon

Last night you called at one and said,
 You’d finally found yourself,
When I asked you who you were you said I’d,
 Just have to find out

 You’re finally coming home,
But it’ll be a few long weeks,
 Before,
 Finally,
 We’re not alone,
 And we’ve got,
 Someone to hold,
 So boy, hurry home
 Step on the gas,
 And count the white lines,
Between where you are and me

 And tonight,
You called me for what you said was the last time,
 Before we were together again,
You felt like something was missing

 And so I told you,
When you’re feeling like there’s no one left to hold,
And you think you’re all alone,
 First of all,
 Think about coming home,
 And then,
Trace the outlines of your perfect, strong hands,
And think about the ground your standing on,
Take a deep breath of air,
And look up at the stars,
 And just remember,
 Just remember,
 I’m not so far off,
I’m standing on the same ground,
 Breathing the same air,
 Looking at the same stars,
And I’m tracing the outline of my hand too,
 Wishing that yours,
 Could be in mine,
 And so yes,
 I’m,
 Thinking of you

By the time I finished telling you,
 Of what to think about,
You were parked in front of the very window,
 That I’d been looking out,
While I was dreaming of you

And all that happened while you were gone,
 The tears that I cried,
Wishing on the stars in the sky,
 And whispered prayers at night,
They all melted in your arms,
Because, you had finally come home…
