Yellow Love
Little yellow sparrow,
Stop laughing at the sun
It’s time for me to make you mine
Before your time is done
The winds can blow, the rivers flow
But you’ll be locked up in my cage
From time to time, I’ll think of you
And feed you thyme and sage
Your wings are broken, wet, and lost
Your voice is mine to keep
I heard your friend, the flying fish
Has retired to the deep
The golden dawn it calls to you
From night to lightened morn
To keep you from your long lost friend
I’ve pinned you with a thorn
The times we’ve had, were not all bad
With songs and strawberry fields
Now reap the harvests you have sown
And see what our love yields
I’ll close my ears so not to hear
The saddest songs you sing
I wish to be your dearest friend
And mend your broken wing
Your shatter soul, has left me ill
I fade without you near
But lest I see you die inside
I’ll let you fly, my dear
