My Father
I plaster on my smile as if everyone's watching.
I can't let the curves of my lips point down.
Even though it gets so very hard.
I can't let it turn into a frown.
Hard to resist, even harder to exist.
I continue on and on and on.
Missing you and the way we were.
Telling myself yet again you are gone.
My blade goes south as my face goes up,
asking God if he is there for me.
I stare back down and swallow my tears.
It is now that I honestly see.
God wants me to have somebody else.
You aren't good enough for me.
I know that you think otherwise,
but I promise that soon you'll see.
For I am his daughter and I am aware
he's already got someone picked out.
I know that my God is always there.
The words glorify as my thoughts testify
the words that I previously stated.
He has saved my many a time,
from being lost and being hated.
