Chess MAG
A man, condemned to Hell,
took with him his chessboard,
and when he reached the gates of Hades,
he challenged the Devil to a game for his freedom.
"I consent," said Satan, "for you cannot win."
"The forces of darkness are omnipotent."
"Nevertheless, I would play you," said the man,
and he laid the board and pieces down and began.
The game lasted for hours,
for both were masters.
The pieces were evenly matched,
until with swift move the man prevailed.
"Now will I take my leave,"
he spoke unto the Devil.
And he sprouted wings and flew to heaven,
and Satan shook his fist at Gabriel, who had tricked him again.
