Ode to Summer
After the school year ends
It’s the break that mends
The ache in the spirit of fun
With fun in the sun
And time to run
And playing lots of games
Games that are fun
I could name a ton
Play with a squirt gun
Or have a good run
Some time for needed rest
Or a meal with some zest
Three months of fun
I never would have guessed
That I could go that long
Without a test!
It’s like a wish come true
Not a day to rue
You can go cuckoo
There is nothing you can’t do.
Watch a cow go, “moo”
Or dance in a tutu
You can go real crazy
But don’t get too lazy
For when you go back to school
You’ll go into a “dazey”
Then a bell rings and you wake up with a scream
Ugh...It was only a dream...
