The Fallen
Even before the birth of his grandfather there stood a neem tree
Who sieved the air and kept it pollution free
Due to whom he is lying still and calm on the land
As always but not intact this time, as his friend.
But when he used to, he was majestic and giant,
Accepting everything with his widespread arms; happy, gallant.
And in those hands a home everyone did find
The very hands that now lie unaligned
A mansion for the flying animates,
And for squirrels who entered through hollow gates
Everyone, who now finds her belongings in the “bundle of wood”
And waving a tearful goodbye as only a true friend could!
He lies dead but not unhappy with the needy man
And he will do him all the help he can
As he is poor, miserable, a man in real need
Not like others who cut them for their greed.
The thought of being carried away in logs gives him immense pleasure
And in the fireplace he will reveal his sun borne treasure
Because his whole life went in the service of others
And now even his death is serving one of his brothers.
Rejuvenated by the thought, he starts to grow
Again, beneath the land, far far below…
And he is showered with help from the nature, kind
Unlike the man. And a new life germinates from the roots left behind.
