The Inconvenience of Misplaced Memories
So they sent her there,
To ease that public guilt,
The one they hide in the privacy of
Denial.
So they took her there,
In aluminum gleaming hearse,
Flung across the stars to be
Forgotten.
So they left her there,
Numbed her gauzy memories,
So she could start anew and
Alone.
So they kept her there,
Ran surveilance periodically,
To soothe inner humane cries of
Remorse.
So they forgot her there,
Left to her devices,
Naming things as she began to
Become.
So I found her there,
Years after she was erased,
But she was already fulfilled and
Beyond.
So I brought her here,
A prodigal daughter returned,
Lovely jet-pitch eyes defying
Those who's gone
To far beyond
What had become
Hid their remorse
Left her alone
All goals forgotten
Steeped in denial
She wasn't gone.
So I sent her there.
