WATCHING
WATCHING

 The sun slowly slips
 beneath the clouds
and shadows fall across my face,
 obscuring the tears that
 stream down my cheeks.

The first raindrop taps my nose lightly.
The next few catch on my eyelashes.
My arms are outstretched to the sky,
my palms raised to the heavens.
And I can not help but wonder if
You are up there watching me.

 As I turn slow circles,
 my face upturned
 To the cooling rain.
 The clouds overhead break loose
 and let their healing waters
 Pour from the thick billows.

My slow circles turn faster as the
 rain beats my face harder.
The tears that fall from my eyes
can not be told apart from the
 rivulets of raindrops
 that cascade from my face.
And I can not help but wonder if
You are up there watching me.

I twirl so quickly that I lose my balance
 and fall to the ground;
fresh grass clippings cling to my body.
 The minutes tick by
while the rain patters lightly on my face.

 Sunlight breaks slowly through
 the thick thunderheads above,
 A bow of flashing light
 suddenly crosses the sky.
 The tears fade away as
the cleansing waters pour from above.
The rainbows colors remind me of the promise
You have made to all of us.
And now I know that You
 are up there watching me.
