Left-Behind Children
Left-Behind Children

 Nobody’s perfect
 But there are mistakes Fate hands us
 And those we make for ourselves

 And those that hurt others
 Time after time
 Until they’re numb

 If you’ve got a child
 Tell him you love him
 All of the time

 So many people
 Have left-behind children
 Not a part of their lives

 These people have said it
 Numerous times, “I’ve got to go now;
 I’ll love you later, when I have the time.”

 The children will nod
 And turn away
 No sadness in a constant routine

 Nobody’s perfect
 But there are mistakes Fate hands us
 And those we make for ourselves

 “I’ve got to go now;
 but I’ll love you later;
 you’ll be my child, when I have the time.”
