The Washington March
He devoted his life to making the world fine,
Martin Luther King, Jr. was born in 1929.
In D.C., in 1963, blacks came to proclaim their voice,
Saying freedom was their choice.
King walked up the stairs to the shouts of the crowd,
Bringing words of peace to the meek and the proud.
He hoped that with this march others would see,
How good equality and justice could be.
At this march he spoke of a life-long dream,
That he hoped would soon become main-stream.
He had a dream that one day all would be right
And he fought for this dream by giving his life.
