The Summer of '09
I SAW
 The Herculean Roman Coliseum
and the beautiful skyline from the London Eye

 I HEARD
The bustle of the city streets in Paris
and the foreign-sounding tour guides on the microphone

 I SMELLED
 The polluted Parisian air
 and the stuffy airplane air
and finally, the great smell of New York air

 I TASTED
 The perfectly al dente pasta
and the prefab airline food (What’s the deal with it?)

 I FELT
SCARED OUT OF MY MIND right before I repelled the 10-story castle
And then happy that I did it, my heart still pounding

 I SAID
 “Goodbye” to my friends
 and then Goodbye” to Europe

 IT WAS THE STRANGEST THING:
There is a bathroom on top of the Eiffel Tower…
 and I used it!
