Blessed Moonlight
The blessed moonlight shineth forth,
Make clear those darkened shades of night.
The remnant left of risen day,
Sends wisdom to our weakened sight.
It’s fruit is found on glist’ning sea,
Upon the slipp’ry rocks reside.
The hope is sprinkled o’er the earth,
Across our passions, now our guide.
Luminous spears have pierced the heights;
The power lit the hidden black.
It mocked the devils o’dirtied sky;
Such beams exposed the righteous track.
All nature’s beasts and thriving green,
The fowl that sings it’s gladden song.
The morning glory spreads its pride;
Awaits the day, where they belong.
All anxious eyes set gaze on thee;
Remind us now of coming dawn.
Some truth made clear, yet finite still;
We wait until the night withdrawn.
We hold our breath, secure our feet;
The earth now looks for eastern rise.
We martyrs cry, “How long O Lord?
O Son of God descend the skies!”
This hour we know what cometh soon,
And thank Thee for the blessed moon.
